How often should you post on each network?
There is a ceiling above which you look automated and get throttled. It is lower than most advice suggests.
Optional — the post reads fine without one.
Most advice about posting frequency ignores the constraint that actually matters: every network has a rate above which you stop looking like a person and start looking like a bot. Crossing it does not usually get you banned. It quietly reduces your reach, and nobody tells you.
Rough ceilings worth respecting
- ✓X — a handful a day is fine; dozens is not
- ✓Bluesky — the most tolerant of volume of any network here
- ✓Instagram and TikTok — a few a day at most; both are sensitive to bursts
- ✓LinkedIn — roughly one a day, and it drops off fast beyond that
- ✓YouTube — limited by production time long before any API limit
- ✓Google Business — a couple a week is plenty; posts expire anyway
The better lever is breadth
If you want more total reach, adding a network beats increasing frequency on one you already use. Ten networks at a safe rate is far more volume than one network at an unsafe one, and none of it risks a throttle.
This is the actual argument for cross-posting, and it is a mechanical one rather than a marketing one.
Consistency over intensity
Three posts a week for six months beats twenty posts in one week and nothing after. The networks reward accounts that keep showing up, and more importantly, the tail of good posts only accumulates if you are still posting when it arrives.
